After more than 30 years of marriage and a teaching career, We have acquired quite a collection of Christmas decorations for around the house. Many of our decorations are Christmas gifts from my students. Our children also made some of the decorations when they were young in school, and no matter how worn and tired they look I still display them. Some were my parents, and I keep and display these worn and tired decorations too. Whether they were gifts, crafts, holiday favors, department store bought, or holiday clearance items, they all come out from their year long storage to don our home each Christmas.
Many decorations were gifts from my students over the years…
I’d like to say I remember who gave each gift, but I do remember many.
Swedeena gave me the snowman with a bottle of Chanel #5. I’m not sure if the snowman was handmade.
Brendan gave me the Best Teacher Ever hanging which I love because its the only decoration we display specifically for teachers.
Cody gave me the Nativity Snow Globe which plays Hark the Herald Angels Sing… He was a special kid and this was a special gift. I loved his mother too! She was always there to help out.
Keghan gave the glass nativity ornament that no longer lights up. I don’t put it on the tree because it’s too heavy.
I always received coffee mugs because Mrs. Moerler was always drinking coffee.
The hanging Santa came with some kind of lotion or cologne with Santa’s arms around it.
The Let IT Snow nesting boxes were full of sweets.
The Dreams Do Come True plate is one of my favorites but I don’t remember which student gave it to me.
Cody’s Nativity Snow Globe sparked a phase of Snow Globe collecting…
Snow Globes from Disney World, Mary Poppins on Broadway, and a free gift from Target.
